Seven Ways to Create WINS in the New Year
Jan 22, 2023
The past few years have been challenging for many entrepreneurs. Uncertainty and an ever-changing online environment have made marketing your business an interesting process. But amid all the chaos, there are some things you absolutely have in your control, and they will help you create consistent leads and generate sales even amid the uncertainty.
1. Have a Plan!
If you are an entrepreneur and you don't have a business and marketing plan, you are missing opportunities. Studies show that if you have a plan, you are more likely to achieve a goal. This is exactly why I offer a business planning workshop every year.
Having a business plan is a game changer! When you have a plan, you know exactly what you need to do each and every day to reach your goals. There is never a doubt as to how you will get to your goals because it is all laid out for you. All you need to do is execute the plan!

2. Network, Network, Network!
Over the past few years, most entrepreneurs and small business owners have come to realize how important it is to network. As the saying goes, "Your network is your net worth."
Now, more than ever, relationships matter! Leveraging your network for referrals and as a resource for you to find clients is imperative.
We have all gotten used to online networking over the past few years. Online networking allows you to network with an unlimited number of people from all over the world. So, if you do not have a local brick-and-mortar business, you definitely want to take advantage of the massive opportunities to network online and expand your network. The possibilities are unlimited!
While online networking allows you to expand your network globally, there is something to be said about cultivating and nurturing real-life relationships with in-person networking opportunities in your local area. This will help you find people to partner with for local events and because you see them in person create a deeper bond.
Both online and in-person networking have their pros and cons. It is important to find the right balance for you!
3. Don't RELY on Social Media
Social media is a MUST, BUT do not rely solely on it to generate leads for your business. Changing algorithms and rules often present challenges for business entrepreneurs and small business owners.
While having a social media presence is a MUST, if you rely solely on it for marketing you are placing your business in the hands of the platform. Instead, use social media to create awareness. If you use social media for unpaid ads, remember that the number of potential leads you reach will really depend on the quality of your audience. You can reach more targeted leads by using paid ads.
4. Use ALL Your FREE Options
While your success on social media will depend on the quality of your audience, you can attract more of the RIGHT people by utilizing all of the free options available to you. So often, I see entrepreneurs not properly and effectively using these free sources for attracting leads.
Cover Photos
Use your cover photos to attract new leads by promoting your latest offer, freebie, or masterclass. This is one of the first things people see when they look you up, so use the free space wisely. And don't forget to open it up, write something, and include a clickable link. After all, you want them to TAKE ACTION!
Personal Profiles
Listen, I KNOW you love your kids, your dog, and your latest vacation, BUT you are in business and you need to optimize ALL your spaces if you want people to know you are serious! So, using the cover photo on your personal profile to promote is a MUST.
When people meet you, they will look you up online. And they look YOU up, not your business. That is the exact reason your personal profile MUST be optimized to attract your ideal clients. If they look you up and see your kids and latest vacation, they may think they got the wrong person or that you don't take your business as seriously as they would like to see and that may deter them from even inquiring about working with you.
5. Celebrate Others and Joint Ventures
In life, there is such a thing as reciprocity. When you support or promote others, they will want to return it to you. It is a natural instinct.
So, go ahead! Celebrate others! Promote others. Interview others. I do a Business Spotlight to highlight other business owners. Not only is it helping them, but it is also providing my audience with the added value they bring to my network. It is a WIN-WIN!
In a joint venture, you both benefit from the other party's network. This can look like a joint training, a joint program, or anything else that supports both of your audiences and allows you both to benefit through sales.
6. Podcasts, Live Shows, and Guest Blogging
Leverage other people's audiences! That is what each one of these does for your business. When you consider being on someone else's podcast or live show, or guest blogging, you must consider the value you want to bring their audience. Who is their audience? Is it the right fit for you? How will you be able to provide real value for them?
The key is to provide high value and not go into it with your end in mind, but with the wins you want to create for the audience. The win you provide will allow them to see the value you bring to them and that is what will help you get new clients by leveraging other people's audiences.
7. Telesummits, Summits, Forums, and Giveaways
All of these options are a great way to leverage other people's audiences, grow your audience, and create awareness for your brand. The key is to be sure it is the right fit. Do others in the summit or giveaway have the same audience as you do? How do you uniquely fit into the group and how can you maximize that to stand out?
Remember, you are unique! No one else takes away from what you do. Others can enhance what you offer without detracting from the value you bring to the world. So, go out there and support others this year and watch your own business grow!
